Westhill Tennis Club Westhill Tennis Club has two all-weather courts in Denman Park, just across Old Skene Road from the police station and adjacent to the bowling green. Club social tennis sessions are Mondays and Thursday evenings from approx. 7.30-10.00 p.m. and Saturday afternoons from 2.30-5.00 p.m. Potential new members are very welcome at these sessions, so why not come along and see how you like it? The courts have superb floodlights, thanks to Aberdeenshire Council, which means that we don’t have to stop playing when it gets dark.
The club comprises players of all ages and abilities. The current NE District men’s singles champion, Jonathan Lints, has been a member of Westhill Tennis Club since he was a boy. He plays for the men’s 1st team in Division 1 of the NE District League. There is a second men’s team in Division 2 and two ladies’ teams, playing in Divisions 1 and 3. We also have a mixed team in the NE Social Tennis League. The Club sessions tend to attract the less experienced and less young (!) players who just want to have some fun. The Club is also deeply committed to junior coaching. Partly this is carried out by our club coach, Vikki Paterson (vikkipaterson@hotmail.com), through the primary schools. There is also coaching for junior members, organised by Vikki and the club secretary, John Purcell (01224-699504).
